Um. *taptap* Is this thing on?
Deargod. Been a while, hasn't it?

Well. Um. So what have I been up to in the *counts* five and a half months since I last updated?

Mostly, I've been working. We are somewhat shortstaffed in my team (we've gone from five full-time equivalent qualified staff to one and a half, me being the one), and the workload just keeps getting bigger. I've also had a project to finish, a whole load of freelance work to do, and we've just launched a very high-profile exhibition marking the 200th anniversary of the British involvement in the transatlantic slave trade, for which I built the web resource (available here if anyone's interested in taking a look). My time management is useless as usual, so I've mostly been running around feeling very flustered and losing track of time. Still, five and a half months is pretty shockingly neglectful. Sorry, all.

On the non-work front, I've been seeing a lot of bands. Since last year I've seen AFI, Doro Pesch, the Backyard Babies (including having a pint kicked over me - accidentally - by the lovely Dregen), Vain, the Wildhearts (twice), Keane (finally, having been stuck in traffic for six hours the first time we tried to go), Placebo, the Eagles of Death Metal ( \m/ ), the Deathstars, and most recently the very very lovely and huggable Kill Hannah. Also been doing a lot of writing, though not much on the books, and have discovered the fun world of rp.

The cats continue to grow up shamefully cute, and the house and garden are coming on, though slowly - plenty of trips to Ikea, and I've just recently planted myself a little formal herb garden with box hedges and everything, which is something I've wanted for a long time. The cats keep digging the plants up, but I'm hoping that if I keep reburying the roots they'll establish...

Oh, and I redid my CBT at the weekend, so I'm legally allowed to ride my little 100cc practice bike again - or I will be when I've got the tax, MOT and insurance sorted. Shouldn't take too much training before I'm ready to take my test, and then I can ride my lovely 400cc sportsbike - once we've got it working, of course. Mark has recently been given an advance on his inheritance in the shape of an utterly gorgeous 2004 Yamaha R1, which is extra incentive to me to get my licence - not that he'll let me ride it, most likely, but it's bloody uncomfortable to ride pillion on...

Think that's all for now. So. How've you all been?

K! *squish* Good to see you around. I was actually thinking about the silly V and A the other day. God, I really want to get back out there. My friend Laura, the one that was with me that you met, got into a Library Science program in Scotland (Strathclyde) that she's attending in the fall. So...I may be up there again next Spring, I hope. :p

I'm crazy. If you've been reading my journal, you'll know that. *sigh* So much drama, so little time. Give me a fucking break. It will come to a head at some point, I'm praying. Perhaps Arthur can give his God a little nudge for me.

Hope the new house is still coming along well?

How's the hubby?

Keane!!! Yay. I adore them. Jealous much.

Well, ttys, I hope. :)))

Hullo! *squishes right back at you* Oooooh, coming back? Yay! Tell Laura hello and good luck with her course, too. :D

*more hugs for you* I'm crap at commenting on journal posts, as you've probably noticed, but I'm thinking of you. *sends knights to look after you* Hope it all starts to sort itself out soon.

The house is lovely, if cluttered...lots of stuff still in boxes *shame* but we're getting there. And Mark is doing well - he's going off on a trip to Spain on his new bike, with some friends, at the end of May, so for a week I shall be my own woman. :D Hoping I'll have my licence sometime soon so that I can go on trips too (although possibly not with the boys...)

Oh, Keane. They were wonderful. It was a bit of an odd experience for me being at a gig where I was in the minority being dressed in black, but oh, they're good live. :D

*more squishes also*

Hey there K, remember me? Another K, one of Teresa's former minions. I don't suppose there are any plans to do anything about replenishing staff? I am quite desperate to move back somewhere where I don't have to wear my furry coat to work in May....

Hullo!

How's it all going?

Sadly we are in the second year of a three-year round of budget cuts so the extra staff we so desperately need are just a pipe-dream...I think I'm going to be the "one in the one and a half" for a while yet. *sigh*. But will keep you posted! Furry coat in May? That can't be good!

*dies laughing* Deargod. Yes. Um. That was...an interesting end to the evening. :D

Lovely to see you both though. If not *quite* how I'd expected... ;)

Hope to see you again soon - we'll have to sort out you coming down for a nice quiet weekend in Gloucester or something. :D

That would be grand - and I'll make sure James wears tight pants... or a chastity belt... or something.

Ahbuggerit. I knew I'd forgotten someone. Actually, I forgot Placebo as well. Oops. *goes to rectify said mistake forthwith*
