Update
So. You may have seen on the news where you are that the Gloucester area of the UK is under quite a lot of water. I live in Gloucester...fortunately not in the flooded bit, and the waters that delayed my route home on Friday have now receded, but we have no water as the local pumping station got flooded over the weekend. We seem to have the power back now, after heroic efforts by the army and emergency services to keep the electricity substation from flooding, but we are not expecting to have running water for at least seven days, maybe fourteen. We have half a bathful and some pans and bottles, and the developers (we live on a very new estate that's still being built) just dropped round a 19 litre watercooler bottle of spring water, so we're not doing as badly as many people.

I'm doing three-hour days at work, we have no computers as the central network was shut down when they thought the council's hq was going to flood, so we're doing other stuff that needs doing, but can't stay longer because no water = no toilets = health and safety nightmare. The rest of the time I'm kind of working from home, I've got various bits and bobs that I can do.

But we're okay, that's the main thing. Download was good practice for this! We are escaping for a bit this evening, going up to Worcester to visit the in-laws, who still have water and are kindly letting us shower and do laundry and washing up and food shopping (supermarkets here being very busy with people buying water etc). However, it's still not fun not being able to have a shower every day, especially with this much hair. Am considering cornrows.

Still. We didn't flood. We don't have small kids to worry about, we're not elderly or ill, and the cats are okay. All in all, we're lucky. Just wanted to let you all know we're okay. *hugs all round*

Glad to hear that you're doing alright, given the very unpleasant situation. Here's hoping they can get your water back soon; I know how nasty it is to go without it.

*hugs* Thank you. At the moment it's still a rather inconvenient adventure, but much longer than this and it's going to be *seriously* nasty. At least we have the in-laws to escape to...but still. Nasty. >.< Wretched weather.

Glad to hear all's well!

Big hugs to you both (and to the fuzzies too)

*hugs* Yes! All is okay at the moment...it's at the third-day-of-festival stage of nastiness, I think, but at least we can escape to the inlaws. Or Wendi. Or Su and Jay. Or my friends in the Forest of Dean...we've been inundated with offers of baths! Still, always did wonder what I might look like with dreads or cornrows... ;D And the fuzzies are fine too, there's enough water for them, and rainwater is drinkable (and preferable, I think) as far as they're concerned...

We must sort out seeing each other. Once the water's back on, though. :D

Am really glad you're okay. Have been wondering, but seem to have mislaid your mobile number. Given the potential lack of power I wasn't sure whether email was so planly. Please give my love to everyone at GRO x

Hi! I trust everything's okay with you and yours? We're coping...it's still something of an Awfully Big Adventure, but I'm sure that'll wear off pretty soon. Will pass on your love etc - all is currently okay, and we're staving off the evil plan to make us go and be useless in libraries!

Hopefully see you sometime fairly soon!

Yes, my parentals are fine, by fortune of living at the top of a very steep hill. Hope you are not forced into the libraries!
Yes, hope very much to catch up soon x

Good, good. Didn't think you'd be flooded - from my vague recollections you don't live too near to the river.

On one news site, there is mention of a man washing his car with bowser water. If it's true, then WTF? And you just know that he isn't driving little old ladies to supermarkets to get their bottled water in that shiny car.
